A thrilling end crowned the 30th edition of the
Almirante Conde de Barcelona Regatta
The water was calm for the first part of the main tour of the last day of the 30th editionof the Almirante Conde de Barcelona Regatta
The last race was much faster than the last in spite of less wind coming off a calm sea.
El Emeraude has generally outpaced the favourite, Carillion of Wight by winning two of the three races.

The clouds and the light portrayed a day that could have brought a downpour on the last day of the 30th edition of the Almirante Conde de Barcelone, however, half way through the morning, the day
cleared up, and the sun presided over the race. As usual, at 12:00, the particiapting boats started to spill out from their moorings, to move towards the regatta’s course, they gave the signal of attention, from 13:30, following the staggered exit of each of the competing classes, which at 13:40 was for the Classics and Vintage Class, at 13:55 for the Spirit of Tradition and at 14:10 for the Flying Fifteen Class.
The regatta took place over a tour of 16,8 miles, following the coastal route number three, between the starting mark located in front of the Marina of Port of Alcudia until the buoy of Can Picafort leaving it to port, continuing to marker 2 located in 39.49.926N / 003.15.679E, leaving it to starboard, to navigate to anchor in 39.50.154N 3 / 003.18.341E also veering to port, along with the wind to marker four, located in 39.51.295N / 003.12.124E that also has been portside to sail from there to reach the finish line located at the same point as the starting point. The sea state was calm, originating from sea lying halfway with waves of 1.1 meters. The wind had a Northeast component with an approximate direction of 060 ° and a speed of 15-17 knots (force 4) at the start, then easing off to 14-15 knots.
The main feature of the day again, has been a normality that at no time was spoilt by any notable incident. The race occurred quicker than on previous days, despite the intensity of the wind, favoured by a calm sea throughout the first half of the course.
After completing the races the general classification of the 30th edition of the Sailing Regatta is as follows:

Vittorio Cavazzana, Owner of Emeraud and winner of this last day of this 30th edition of the Conde de Barcelona Regatta, commented, “it really only leaves me to praise the organisation of this regatta. It has been a very well prepared event and the races have been technically very good, very appropriate for these boats. For us, it was a challenge to beat the champion of the previous edition, but finally, our effort paid off and we succeeded. We are very satisfied”
Today one noticed a certain melancholia amongst the participating crew when they prepare themselves for tomorrow’s Grand Naval Parade which will take place after the awards ceremony, and it will be time for goodbyes and setting dates for the next edition
Regarding social events of the final day, today at 17 h quick painting contest, took place, sponsored by Asisa, also activities have also taken place in the regatta Lounge, including dinner and celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Sailing Regatta. Dinner consisted of a "fideua" served in the Lounge, for all participants, friends and guests, followed by a performance from DJ Jimmy Devil.

An overcast, windy day dawned in the Port of Alcudia providing dismal predictions for the first event of the 30th edition of the Sailing Regatta. However, mid-morning conditions improved and the sun, with faint rays but plentiful heat, did not want to miss the start of the competition.
Promptly at 12:30, the fleet were at sea, bidding for the start line, the first signal was given at 13:30 hours and the starting signal at 13:40 hours. There have been three starts, one for each group in the competition, at intervals of ten minutes for each, each group, starting 10 minutes from the warning signal.
The regatta has evolved into a journey of 16.9 miles, following the coastal route between the number-two starting mark opposite the Alcudia Marina to the mark located off Alcanada, from there it continued up to mark two anchored in the coordinates 39.51.295N/003.12.124E veering to port, continuing until the beacon located in three 39.50.0154N / 003.14.971E also veering to port, to go to number four at 39.40.182N / 3.13.802E that has been left to starboard, continuing until reaching the finish line located at the same point as the outlet. The sea condition was good to swell, with waves up to one metre, suitable for navigation of these vessels, all with an easterly wind of about 10 knots, strength 3 Beaufort scale. Navigation on the first tranche was upwind and the other crosswise.
The main characteristic of the day has been that in every moment camaraderie has reigned between the contenders, who have made Herculean efforts to prevail in the race and demonstrate the seamanship of the crews and the boats class, all characterized to secure a victory in this competition.

The fleet of the Almirante Conde de Barcelona Regatta takes place in the sea tomorrow, while today everything is being prepared in the commercial dock of the Port of Alcuida, for the celebration of this interesting sporting event.
Today is a busy day for the participants and for the organisation of the 30th edition of The Almirante Conde de Barcelona Regatta. Everything is ready for tomorrow’s commencement of this year’s edition that is one of the most competitive in the history of this trophy, which honours the memory of the great seaman, that was the grandfather of S.M. el Rey, the Admiral Don Juan de Borbon y Battemberg, Conde de Barcelona.
Jonathan Syrett, President of the Executive Committee of the 30th Edition of The Almirante Conde de Barcelona Regatta, expressed that, "It is a tremendous honour for everyone involved in this race to celebrate this 30th anniversary of uninterrupted racing of classic and vintage boats. There is no doubt that the Regatta Almirante Conde de Barcelona is the oldest celebrated in the Balearic Islands, but it also has a special significance because it was the pioneer for bringing out of obscurity, many classic and vintage boats, thereby contributing to the recovery and maintenance of Spanish maritime heritage.
|The organisation is working throughout the day so that the boats mooring area, and in the lounge that welcomes the yachtsmen and yachtswomen, all the social and entertainment events that take place, like the nautical and artisan market, plus live music from New Heaven group, are to the liking of all the participants. Meanwhile the crew have taken advantage of checking all the rigging on the boats to allow them to “be at sea”, ready as from tomorrow, the competition require the sails and canvas to give their all, and it looks like it will be a very competitive edition.
In addition, they are heading towards the closure of registrations of participating boats, so that final enrolments are completed in this edition of the regatta and, starting off tomorrow, there will be 25 boats from 8 different nationalities.
Also taking place today, is the welcome cocktail aimed at members and guests of the crew. At the beginning of the event, the shipowners, crew, and the rest of the assistants, will be received by Coloma Terrasa, Mayor of Alcudia and Jonathan Syrett, President of the Executive Committee of the 30th Edition of the The Almirante Conde de Barcelona Regatta, who will welcome this event of classic and vintage boats, that is already a tradition in this coastal port of Northern Mallorca.
Five tours are in the Bay of Alcudia according to different weather conditions.
The course design ensures this spectacular race of classic sailing yachts.
Palma, July 17, 2014. Organizing Committee of the 30th edition of the regatta Almirante Conde de Barcelona continues its work of preparing this sporting event which held in the bay of Alcudia the next 21st to 24th of August.
During these days it has completed the definition of the possible courses for this sailing event, which are reflected in the corresponding navigation charts.
Are provided to a total of five courses planned to all possible conditions of sea and wind that may occur in the Bay of Alcudia during the day throughout the competition.

Alcudia is getting ready to welcome the 30th edition of the prestigious regatta “Almirante Conde de Barcelona”.
This competition is the oldest of its kind in the Spanish Mediterranean.
The 30th edition the Almirante Conde de Barcelona Regatta will be held in Alcudia Bay between August 20th and August 24th. With its 30 years of history, this iconic regatta has become one of the main events in the Mediterranean classic boat circuit

The 30th anniversary of the quintessential classic race comes with an exciting program of social events.
The wonderful waters of the Bay of Alcudia, at the north of the island of Mallorca provides again a framework for the iconic regatta of classic and vintage yachts which celebrates its 30th edition in memory of this great seaman who was the Admiral Don Juan de Borbón, Count of Barcelona.
The race’s organization has turned all their efforts in preparing this significant issue for a few days will decorate with sails the coast of Alcudia coast, city that has been focusing on hosting this race.
The fleet of the 30th edition of this prestigious regatta will include classic, vintage, spirit of tradition, Latin sail boats, big boats, dragons and flying fifteen classes.
Besides the sailing races itself, a cast of social and recreational activities it is being prepared.
This race began to play in 1985 and has grown steadily since then to the present day, showing the beauty of the evolutions of vintage sailing ships in the cities of Palma and Alcudia, except in 1992, 8th edition Trophy wherein, in commemoration of the discovery of America, the fleet made the crossing Barcelona-Sevilla.

The Almirante Conde de Barcelona classic yacht regatta is celebrating its 30th anniversary
It is the oldest classic yacht event held in the Spanish Mediterranean and it is the first and oldest classic regatta held in the Balearic Islands. It will be held in Mallorca from the 20th to the 24th of August. The fleet of the 30th edition of this prestigious regatta will include classics, vintage, spirit of tradition, latin sail boats, big boats, dragons and flying fifteens.
The organizers are preparing a very special event that will be dedicated to the memory of Admiral Don Juan de Borbón, Conde de Barcelona, a great sea lover and leading advocate of celebrating this sailing event which was established as a way to publicize the maritime heritage and help to recover it.
Besides the sailing races itself, a line-up of social and recreational activities are being prepared. This regatta began in 1985 and has grown steadily since then to the present day, displaying the beauty and sailing skills and manoeuvres of vintage sailing yachts in the cities of Palma and Alcudia, except in 1992, the 8th edition of the Trophy, when, in commemoration of the Discovery of America, the fleet sailed from Barcelona to Sevilla.
A significant presence of classic boats of all kinds is expected to come together to enjoy this event and celebrate its 30th anniversary. The opening of the registration period and the other features of this year's Trophy Almirante Conde de Barcelona will be announced soon, as will the full program of activities and events that will complement the regatta.
